Winds Of Change: 20 Years Later

22 Apr

I’m not quite sure how I got to thinking about The Scorpions’ power ballad “Winds of Change” the other day, but I did, and in the process of trying to track down the video from 1990, it got me to thinking.  Much of the imagery and meaning in the video (/song) is essentially just as applicable today as it was back then, with protest and revolution throughout much of the Middle East and North Africa, wars being fought in at least two continents, and all sorts of unprecedented global change.  Take a few minutes to watch/listen to the video, as its a reminder that 20 years later, there are hundreds of millions of people still fighting for basic freedoms that many of us in the Western World take extremely for granted.
