Among all the overachieving there is not a word to indicate an ethical grounding or sense of social responsibility. Church? Charity?

  5. Hondo May 3, 2010 at 10:34 pm #

Fred, Opportunity International is a wonderful charitable organization with a nondenominational Christian worldview.

DancesWithSpreadsheets, I share your skepticism. If she’s graduating from Wharton with a bachelor’s in June 2010, then let’s assume she’s 22. 2010-22=1988. If she “founded” Destination Imagination (whatever that is) in 1992, then 1992-1988= 4. She was 4 years old at its founding. Either very ambitious, or there’s a typo in her resume (how embarrassing for a alleged 4.0 GPA) or there’s a typo in the Stone Street blog post.

Fred: Did you say no sense of social responsibility? I’m going to assume that was sarcasm, since it states she founded TWO non-profits for education and development. Wow, what are socially responsible doing these days that doesn’t qualify this young lady for the title?

    @ hondo and @ danceswithspreadsheets

You guys are clearly skpetical morons

Destination Imagination, if you just googled it you would know, is a competition you participate in during elementary-middle school.

You can found chapters of destination imagination, which is what she did, apparently.

and both of you guys, clearly, are math illiterate, maybe thats why you kids are in finance?

She would not be 10 or 4, dumba$$. Please try again. Also, the graduation date was 2008 not 2010, thats her masters from OXFORD

    dumba$$es

Internships are amazing (Wonder why she has been switching companies that fast? Maybe no ft offer?)
Beside that and the 4.0 gpa (Let’s face it, econ isn’t the hardest major out there) I don’ see many impressive things.
From a technical point of view, neither the contents of her work was precisely hard nor distinctive.
About the leadership related activities, I will be nice and I won’t think she’s like some people I know and I will believe she actually put a lot of work. Still not amazing.
No part-time job, no clearly focused experience.
800 interviews, LOL, took her a while …
Developed BPlan and Ops model, isn’t that redundant?
    Not great quant/programming skills.

K, taking away the dubious quality/quantity experience/activities, she’s a 4.0 gpa in a not precisely tough major (no comments about the minor).

Must be very smart, but not impressive imho.
